PlanHab Logo

The logo for the FP 7 PlanHab project was created by Prof. Mekjavic during his tenure at Simon Fraser University (British Columbia, Canada).  It depicts an infrared thermogram superposed on Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian man.  The human figure is enclosed in a circle, representing the ideal proportions of a human being, and a square, representing the life-sustaining encapsulated environment of a habitat. The inclusion of the infrared thermogram also represents the work of Jozef Stefan, author of the Stefan Law describing the power radiated from a body:
